It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Karen (Adams) Sousie, who left this world peacefully on March 14, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 27, 1953, Karen was a steadfast warrior, bravely battling cancer for nearly four years before succumbing to its effects.

Karen was raised in the Tumwater area, where she graduated from Tumwater High School in 1971. Known for her tenacity and strength, she embodied the spirit of a fighter – a resilient woman who embraced life with vigor. Throughout her career, she held various clerical positions within Thurston County, demonstrating an unwavering dedication to her work. In addition, during the mid-1970s, she contributed to her community as a volunteer firefighter for the Scott Lake Community.

An ardent lover of family gatherings, Karen found joy in sharing meals with friends and traveling to new destinations. She had a passion for NASCAR, cherished classic cars, and found solace in riding her horse, Rosie. Among her many treasures were her beloved collection of Snoopy memorabilia, which brought her delight and a sense of nostalgia.

Karen leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Marc; her son Jason of Port Orchard; her daughter Lisa of Olympia; her grandsons Elijah, Brian, Marc, and Ethan, all of Olympia; her brother Ralph of Olympia; her sister Cherie and her husband Bill of Crestview, Florida; and her brother Jeff and his wife Cheryl of Olympia. Karen will also be remembered by several nieces and nephews, who were touched by her warmth and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Shirell and Louise Adams, as well as her sister-in-law Colleen Adams.

Karen's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her strength, spirit, and unwavering love for her family serve as an enduring testament to a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those wishing to honor Karen's memory to consider a donation to cancer research or a local charity of their choice.
