Karen Sue Southward, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, departed from this world peacefully at home in Little River, South Carolina, on October 5, 2025, following an extended illness. Born on October 11, 1943, in Chillicothe, Ohio, she was a warm and kind soul who touched the lives of many throughout her years.
Karen dedicated many years of her career working in quality control for Calmar, contributing her skills and expertise to ensure the high standards of the company. Her commitment to excellence was matched only by her compassion for others.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, Floyd Southward; her sons Cary (Louann) Gault, Shane Gault, Chris Southward, and Mike (Sonya) Southward; her loving sister Sharren Basset; and her cherished grandchildren Cassy (Cory) Kellough, Cory (MacKenzie) Gault, Molli (Lane) Gault, Michael Bishop, Megan Southward, Austin Fitzpatrick, Makenzie Southward, and Madison (Brady) Hall. Karen also leaves behind several great-grandchildren and many treasured friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Earl and Joan Fuller; her son Jerry Gault; her grandson Shane Gault; and her sister Cindy Fuller.
A funeral service is planned for 1pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington Court House. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 14th from 5pm to 8pm.
She will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her, as her warmth and kindness remain etched in our hearts.
