Karen Elaine Thornton, age 67 passed away on June 3rd, 2023 at Wesley Medical Center, surrounded by her family. A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, June 8th @ 1:00 PM at Mulvane Cemetery in Mulvane, Kansas. Karen was born on January 29th, 1956 at St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita, KS. Karen is preceded in death by her mother Connie Krauss, her father Dick Fresch, and her brother Doug Krauss. Karen is survived by her husband, Billy; children, Richard Hanafin (Julie), Shannon Thornton, Jesse Thornton (April); brothers, Steven Krauss, Charlie Krauss; grandchildren, Quientinn Hanafin, Viviana Pechin (Colby), Virgil Thornton, Valicia Thornton, Alyssa Thornton, Adalina Thornton; and great-grandchildren, Blakely Pechin. Karen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed starting her day with watching Joel Osteen or Billy Graham, baking cookies and banana bread, and spending time with her family. Karen will be deeply missed and remembered for her kindness and the impact she made in others lives.
