Karen Lynn Watson, 77, of Byron Center, MI passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 with her husband and children by her side. Karen was born on April 21, 1948, in Marlette, MI to the late Rex and Ruth Wilson. She married her high school sweetheart and forever love Joseph R. Watson. Together they built a blessed life, complete with 59 years of marriage, a beloved family and deep faith. Joe and Karen cared for one another through life's sacrifices, tribulations and joys. Karen rejoiced in knowing she is saved through God and his eternal love.
Karen had warmth about her that was felt by so many. She was incredibly thoughtful, making the simplest things special for others. Every meal, moment, gift, or trinket was filled with her imprint. Her hugs a blanket full of love. Karen will be most remembered for her endless love for others and the mother she has been to her children and grandchildren. Her heart felt deep, her love was undeniable, and she loved nothing more than being surrounded by her family. She will be remembered with every day that passes, every celebration she will be with us, and her love reflected in us all forever.
Karen is survived by her children: Kristine (Michael) Byrnes of Jamestown, David (Melissa) Watson of Hudsonville, Jeremy (Erin) Watson of Hudsonville and Jennifer (Jason) Kitchen of Byron Center; eight grandchildren Travis (Dezarae) Byrnes, Rachel (Zach) Derylo, Hannah Watson, Adrienne Watson and fiancé Max Meyer, Jack Watson, Kennedy Watson, Samantha Kitchen, Mitchell Kitchen and two great grandchildren, Claire Byrnes and Brynn Byrnes; sister Cheryl Zawilinski, and many nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her brothers: Jerry Wilson on December 21, 2019 and Richard Wilson on November 10, 1999.
Funeral services for Karen will be held on Tuesday, October 28, at 11:00 A.M. at Rush Creek Bible Church, 2334 76th St SW, Byron Center, MI 49315.
