Germaine Suzanne "Geri" Erickson

Germaine Suzanne Erickson (nee Kayser), age 94, was called home peacefully in her sleep on October 12, 2025. Geri was born in Long Island, New York on November 10, 1930. Her parents, Geoffrey and Leonie (Boupas) Kayser came to the U.S. from France when her father, a French chef, came to be the Head of Staff for the Benjamin Moore (paints) family. From New York she moved to New Jersey and then to Orlando, FL, where she graduated from high school. It was in Florida that she met her then husband. They moved to Michigan, eventually putting down roots in Wyoming, MI. After a number of years, they purchased 80 acres in Allendale, MI where much of the farmland was used for pastureland and to grow hay. On their farm they had horses, cows, hunting and guard dogs, and of course, the poodle for in the house. But the main focus over all the years on the farm were the many horses, primarily Arabians. Eventually she moved to a residential neighborhood in Standale, MI where there was a lot less manual labor, and allowed time for her to see the world. She traveled from Australia to Hawaii, Alaska to Maine, and all of the best spots in the USA. And
of course, being only a generation removed from France, there were many great trips to Europe and France to see aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Geri worked for and retired from Meijer. She was also a member and worshiper at Holy Spirit Parish in Grand Rapids, Michigan for well over 50 years. She resided in Standale until the age of 93 before moving into assisted living.
Geri is survived by her 2 children, Pamela (Edwin) Avink and Michael Erickson. She has 4 grandchildren and their spouses: Chad and Carmen Avink of Manhattan, NY; Brandon and Jessica Avink of Hudsonville, MI; Ryan and Katie Avink of Hudsonville, MI; and Kristin and Dan Angeles of Colorado Springs, CO. Geri also has 10 great-grandchildren (8 of them girls): Allison, Kaylee, and Gavin Avink; Kenna and Ashlynn Avink; and Makayla, Joslyn, Ainsley, Sophia, and Caleb Angeles.
A private family graveside service is planned for a later date at Georgetown Township
Cemetery in Hudsonville, Michigan.
