Georgie Bell Erickson January 19, 1927 - September 21, 2025
Georgie Bell Erickson went to be with her Lord and savior on September 21, 2025 at her home in Fullerton, California at the age of 98 years old.
Georgie was born on January 19, 1927 in Nashville, Tennessee to Emma Ethel and John Alvin Claiborne. She was the fourth of eleven children, and the fourth daughter of the Claiborne family.
Georgie attended and graduated from Downey High School. Shortly after graduating, she married and moved to Detroit Michigan where she attended Florence UTT Business School. After graduating, she moved to Chicago Illinois to begin her career in business.
On December 27, 1947 Georgie gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Tiffany. Less than two years later on May 3, 1949 she welcomed her second child into the world, a son named Phillip. Georgie loved being a mother and adored her children. She worked hard to provide and care for them, while eventually moving to Orange County, California.
In 1959 while working to provide for her teenage children, Georgie met the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Erickson. After dating for five years, Georgie and Dick married in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 4, 1964. They began their life together and bought their first home in 1968 in Downey, California. They spent their days fixing up their house and golfing as much as they could. They had a sweet relationship, built on love and friendship. In 1972, Georgie and Dick moved to Fullerton, California where they would call home for the remainder of their lives. They remained faithful to their golf game and traveled the world together, exploring new places and visiting all but one of the fifty states.
Sadly on October 29, 2013, Dick passed away, leaving a huge hole in Georgie's heart. She continued to golf, attend church, and spend time with friends and neighbors-holding onto the hope of one day being reunited with Dick, while cherishing the moments she shared with those she loved.
Georgie's love for Jesus and her family carried her through the difficult times. She enjoyed nothing more than to spend time with her family. Her greatest joy was in talking, texting or visiting with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, and nieces and nephews. Her face would light up whenever she got the opportunity to visit with someone she loved. She made it a habit to always let her family know that she loved them, was thinking of them, and was praying for them.
Georgie never hesitated to give or ask for prayer. She firmly believed in God and the power of prayer. She was a woman of faith who lived by the word of God. She never judged and could always find the good in others. Throughout her life she remained obedient and faithful to God, never giving in to earthly temptations, except for the occasional sweet tooth. She was gentle, and kind and caring, and would always help those in need. She was a precious gift to all who knew her, and blessing to each person she encountered, as she exuded God's love over their lives. True to her hope and belief, she has been reunited in God's kingdom with her beloved Dick, children and many other family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents John and Emma Claiborne, her husband Richard Erickson, her children Phillip Henley and Tiffany Collins, and her siblings Margaret Reynolds, Ruth Neese, Frankie Richardson, Johnie Savee, Hat Claiborne, Dot Morland, Dixie Kemp, Grady Claiborne, and Kenneth Claiborne.
Georgie is survived by her son Scott (Nancy) Erickson, her grandchildren Kelly (Geoff) Harrington, Joseph Collins, and Christy Mitchell, Karen (Eugene) Erickson, great- grandchildren Cleo (Jackie Puccino) Harrington, Elliott Harrington, William Harrington, and Kyden Mitchell, her brother Everette (Sue) Claiborne, as well as many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
