Ms. Karen Hudiburg (Stevens) Wood, 80, of Blue Springs, MO died Friday, April 18, 2025, at her home.
Karen was born November 29, 1944, in Prague, Oklahoma to Jean and Paul Hudiburg. She grew up in Midwest City and was a long time MWC Bomber before going to Stephen’s College. After college Karen became a stewardess for Braniff Airlines in which she survived a plane crashing into her hotel, which ended her career in the airline industry. She then married Ron Stevens of Wagner, Oklahoma and they first settled in Tulsa, then Edmond. Karen was a homemaker, PTA volunteer, sewed many of her children’s clothes and many Halloween costumes. She cooked wonderful meals for anyone who was around. She loved her Oklahoma Sooners and more recently the Alabama Crimson Tide where her grandson plays for The Million Dollar Band. Karen was in the retail clothing business, and many will remember her for making us feel stylish and beautiful from Seventh Avenue. Karen loved to travel, enjoyed time at Grand Lake, Santa Fe, and more than anything her time spent doing anything with her grandson, Mason.
Karen is survived by her daughter Stacy Howell (husband Dan) of Oak Grove, MO; son, Jeremy of Oklahoma City, OK; grandson Mason Meeks of Oak Grove, MO; sisters, Donna Dodson of Santa Fe, NM, and Paula Tate of Tulsa, OK; brothers David Hudiburg (wife Lezlie) and Steve Hudiburg (wife Karen) all of Oklahoma City and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, along with other family members.
