Karin A. Walker, passed away peacefully at her home on January 2, 2026, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). She was 68.
Born in Wareham in 1957 and raised in East Falmouth, Karin was the oldest daughter of Jerome Souza and the late Marianne C. Souza (Costa).
Karin was a beloved member of the Falmouth community, having had a home preschool daycare program for over 30 years. She provided countless children with a loving, safe and educational environment to grow and thrive. She kept in touch with many of the children she cared for years later.
Karin was the loving wife of 40 years to Bob, and together they raised their daughter Nicole. Karin was a devoted mother who was always there to offer love, guidance, and laughter. She cherished family gatherings and Karin's love for the holidays provided warmth and joy to those around her. Recently becoming a 'Grammy' was what gave her the most joy and happiness.
Walking the beach with her husband and hunting for sea glass was one of Karin's favorite past times. Her sea glass collection is unmatched and a beautiful remembrance of her love for the ocean.
Karin enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit family and NYC to shop and see Broadway shows. Her favorite place to spend time was on the Vineyard, no matter the time of year. She also loved music and was an avid concert goer. She enjoyed most genres but especially loved rock and roll. She enjoyed cooking, baking, needlepoint, skiing, boating, and was an enthusiastic Bruins fan.
When Karin was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, she found the Rock Steady Boxing (RSB) community where she not only participated in the boxing program designed for movement disorders, but found everlasting friendships, support, and a sense of belonging. Having this RSB community foundation immensely helped once she received the MSA diagnosis.
She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) H Walker III; her daughter Nicole R. MacKinnon and husband Logan; and her cherished grandson, Lochlan W. MacKinnon. Karin also leaves behind her sisters Betty J. Rogan and husband David, and Traci L. Campbell, her parents-in-law Charles and Elizabeth Hatzikon, sister-in-law Susan E. Gillette and husband Daniel, 6 nieces and nephews, a great nephew and niece, and many friends, all who will miss her dearly.
Karin's family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to her doctors and nurses, and most especially to her caregivers who provided her comfort and laughter during the hardest years of her life.
A private celebration of life will be held in Karin's memory. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Striking Beauties and Beasts Project Inc, 18 Church Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760 in support of The Rock Steady Boxing Program.
