Karine "Gigi" Leona Rodriguez, age 30, of Jenison, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, after a long battle with colon cancer. She was born on April 30, 1992, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Terrie Coonrod Baker and Benjamin Rodriguez.
Gigi attended Jenison High School. She went on to get a GED, then a degree in Cosmetology. Everyone was so proud of her because she achieved this during her cancer treatments.
Growing up, Gigi was a smart, happy, curious and confidently strong child. Most of us didn't realize how strong she truly was until her diagnosis. She was diagnosed at the young age of 24. Even then, Gigi was the life of the party. Her smile and laughter would light up a room and her light would shine so bright it could touch your soul!
She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her!
She was preceded in death by her beloved Fiancé, Jarad Frary; auntie, Collette Thelen; aunt, Lois Baker; and grandmother, Lois Rodriguez.
Gigi is survived by her loving parents, Terrie Coonrod Baker and Benjamin Rodriguez; sisters, Amaries Rodriguez and Yaileen Rodriguez; maternal grandparents, Roger and Linda Walthorn; a special great aunt, Jean Karloski; and many aunties, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Gigi's wishes were to not have a funeral, but a Celebration of Life. We will be doing this in true "Gigi" fashion on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at The American Legion (Post 179), 2327 Wilson Ave SW, Walker, Michigan.
