With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Karl August Case, 48, of West Salem, IL on September 30, 2025.
Karl August Case was born August 11, 1977 in Olney, IL to Karl Alan and Katheryn (Taylor) Case. He married Melody (Luthe) on October 5, 1996 in West Salem, IL. They were to celebrate their 29th anniversary this year. During these years, they raised their two Godly, hardworking children.
Karl was a respected man of God and devoted husband, father, and family man. He was a long-time truck driver (known as Krispy to his fellow drivers) and lifelong farmer. Throughout their marriage Karl and Melody enjoyed many trips to Kentucky Lake, Gatlinburg, spending time together in the semi, raising cattle and riding in tractors. They were in constant communication during each day while Karl was in his truck. He currently served the House of Prayer as a deacon on the board of directors as well as he was a Village of West Salem trustee. Over the years, he was a member of the Farm Bureau Young Farmers, Bone Gap Chowder committee, and a Farm Bureau Board member. He enjoyed teaching his children a love of serving the Lord. He also taught them many life skills, including working on equipment, shooting guns, and taking care of animals. He was quick to honk his horn whenever he saw his kids out and about and coming in the driveway. He never let anyone leave his house without giving them a hard time and knowing exactly how he felt about anything. He was never afraid to give advice to the younger generation who filled his house at all times.
He made it clear to all around him that Jesus was the Way, the Truth and the Light.
Karl leaves behind his wife Melody of nearly 29 years; children Konner August Case and Katelyn Elizabeth Case; parents Karl Alan and Katheryn Robilee Case; brother Kyle Taylor Case and wife Mariah; sister-in- law Erin Case; nieces and nephews Kolter, Keaton, Emerysn, Ellany, Kaiser, Kollin, Markus, Ember and Rafe; mother-in-law Leslie (Linder) Luthe; and grandmother Eleanor Case Ephraim.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Kristopher Lee Case; father-in-law Larry Luthe; grandparents Ivan Case, Alfred and Mary Ann Taylor; great-grandparents Russell and Alice Koertge; and a special great-aunt Mildred Hagood.
