Karl-Erik Andrén, 66, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on July 28th, 2025 in Hingham, Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Maureen Andrén and their son Kristofer and his wife Alessandra, as well as his four sisters and their families in Sweden. He is preceded in death by his parents Hilding and Kerstin Andrén. Originally from Sweden, Karl was an honest, genuine, and kind man who lived a life full of adventure. He took great pride in helping those around him.
Karl was raised on a small farm called Lövås in Hyssna, Sweden, with his three older sisters Anna, Brita and Karin, as well as his twin sister Gunnel. It was here that Karl discovered his talent for fixing things and passion for cars. He completed his service to the Swedish military in 1977 where he was a member of the armored division fixing tanks and transport vehicles. In his early 20s, he moved to the U.S. to begin the adventure of a lifetime with his best friend Jörgen Weikert. He began working as a mechanic and rose through the car service industry, working the majority of his career as the service manager at Saab.
Karl valued his friends and family above all else, working tirelessly to afford his son every opportunity for sports and experience. He loved spending time outdoors with friends and family. Throughout his years in New England, Karl could be found scuba diving in Cape Cod Bay, windsurfing off of Minot beach, hiking in Acadia National Park, skiing black diamonds in the Northeast and out West, fishing in Duxbury Bay, and picking lobsters clean at any lobster pound that would have him. He was an avid golfer and loyal Boston sports fan. He spent many nights cheering for the Bruins, Red Sox, and Patriots alongside his son and friends.
Karl was a quiet man of action. Those who knew him will recall countless stories of Karl helping them with their car, lawn mower, boat engine, mailbox, et cetera. His actions often spoke louder than his words. If you ever needed him, he would be there. He was loyal, reliable, honest, funny and could always be counted on to clean his plate. He will be so missed.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. They would like to extend a special thank you to 110 Fitness for their support in Karl's early fight against Parkinson's Disease. They would also like to thank Sunrise Memory Care and the Pat Roche Hospice House for taking special care of Karl and making his final moments as comfortable as possible.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 6th at 10:00 AM EST at Holy Family Church in Duxbury. It will be live streamed on the church website, online at: https://www.holyfamilyduxbury.org/ for loved ones and friends overseas or who are unable to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, online at: https://www.parkinson.org/ or 110 Fitness, online at: https://110fitness.org/ in Karl's honor.
