Karl Kempter Obituary

Karl "Kurt" Kempter, 79, of the East Mountain section of Scranton died Thursday June 16, 2022, at the Allied Services Hospice Center after a brief but courageous fight. His wife of 32 years is the former Nan Kane.

Born in Scranton he was the son of the late Dr. Carl and Helen Kohut Kempter. A graduate of Scranton Central High School, he earned both his Bachelor of Science and MBA in economics from the University of Scranton. After graduation, he worked for the Scranton Redevelopment Authority for five years. He then went on to work for the County of Lackawanna Transit System for the next 35 years. Professionally, Kurt earned much respect within the community with those he worked with.

Kurt was a kind and generous man who touched so many people. He enjoyed many happy years with Nan (Baboo) traveling to New York, seeing shows, and enjoying fine dining.

Kurt's family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. William Speicher, along with all of the nurses, staff at Geisinger C.M.C., their ICU floor, and to everyone at Allied Hospice for all of their kind and compassionate care.

Kurt is survived by his wife Nan, step-daughter Kathleen Ozark and husband Chris McCabe, many cousins and faithful and dedicated friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Peter's Cathedral, 315 Wyoming Ave., Scranton. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow. Friends and family may pay their respects Monday from 8:30 a.m. until Mass time in the church. For those not able to physically attend, the funeral is being made available for online viewing via the website KurtKempter.Hallock.Live

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allied Services Hospice Center, 511 Morgan Highway, Scranton, PA 18505.

God bless you Kurtie I know you are in Heaven. You were always Faithful and prayerful watching Mass on TV every day. I enjoyed out conversations. Keep a watch over Nan and all of us.
