Karl Alexander Koehrer

Karl Alexander Koehrer, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, educator, and lifelong learner, passed away on December 30, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Koehrer, and his mother, Dorothy Koehrer.

Karl was married for 30 wonderful years to his wife Marian, his true partner in all things. Together they shared a life rooted in curiosity, adventure, learning, and love.

An extraordinary educator, Karl devoted 39 years to teaching, shaping countless young minds with patience, humility, and kindness. He spent 26 years in public education and 13 years in private education, leaving an indelible mark wherever he taught. Karl had a rare gift—he remembered every child’s name and made each student feel seen and valued. Teaching was not just his profession; it was his calling.

His educational journey and service included time at Oak Brook Elementary, Wren Hollow, and Barrett Station, as well as teaching at Chaminade College Preparatory School. He was an elementary and middle school teacher who believed deeply in hands-on, experiential learning. One of his most cherished traditions was taking his elementary students to Trout Lodge, creating lifelong memories and fostering a love of learning beyond the classroom. He was also instrumental in starting student explorations in partnership with the Teton Science School through Chaminade, opening the door for students to experience science in meaningful and transformative ways.

Karl’s passions extended far beyond the classroom. He was an avid motorcyclist who proudly rode through all 48 lower states and into Alaska, embracing the freedom of the open road. He loved model rocketry, teaching summer camp, hiking, fishing, weightlifting, and running.

A devoted lover of science and nature, Karl especially cherished the Saint Louis Zoo, often sharing its wonders with his grandchildren. Few things brought him greater joy than watching his grandchildren discover the marvels of the world and helping their curiosity blossom.

Karl is survived by his wife Marian; his son Jason Koehrer (Pam) and their children Allison and Mark; his daughter Kerri Mohrman (Jim) and their sons Henry and Nolan; his stepdaughters Jennifer Anderson (Trent) and their children Evan and Quinn (Kane) and great-granddaughter Parker; and his stepdaughter Cindy Todd (Kirk). He is also survived by his sister Joanna Drukker (Jeff) and his nieces Olivia, Evie, and Grace.

Above all, Karl will be remembered as an extremely kind, humble, patient, and gentle soul—a man who lived to serve, teach, and love quietly but deeply. His legacy lives on in his family, his students, and all who were fortunate enough to learn from him or walk beside him.

Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark and cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory.
