Karla Jane Rinehart (nee Schleicher)

Born — May 16, 1953 - on her father's 32nd birthday

Left her earthly family, and danced with Jesus, face to face on June 20, 2025

Karla was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Earl Henry Schleicher and Julia Irene (Horn) Schleicher, and lived in Zanesville, Ohio until 1961 , when her family moved to Carmel, Indiana.

Karla was the third of four children born to her wonderful parents. Earl and Julia were the epitome of loving, nurturing, and supportive parents, and later in life, grandparents.

Karla graduated from Carmel High School, Carmel, Indiana, Class of 1971 , where she met Jeff Rinehart, in French class and started dating in early summer, 1970.

Karla was an independent woman, working in the mortgage business starting in June of 1972 until June 18th, 2025. Karla knew the industry and was always learning about the newest and latest industry software. Karla was employed by Cornerstone Home Lending for 1 1 + years as a loan closer, and loved her job, her co-workers, and the industry.

Karla was sister to Roland Schleicher, Gretchen Owens (Schleicher), and Eric Schleicher (deceased).

Karla was married to Jeffrey W. Rinehart on April 12, 1975, the happy couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 1 2, 2025.

Karla was Mom to daughter Kirsta Lyn Britton (Rinehart) and son Jonathan Wesley Rinehart, and motherin-law to Dustin Britton (rnärried October 1 9, 2002 - Kirsta's grandparents wedding anniversary). Karla's grandma status started with Adelaide Jane Britton's birth on July 1 3, 2005, and grew with the birth of Benjamin Earle Britton, September 20, 2006. Proud moments were the Graduation of Adelaide from Metro State University and Benjamin from Windsor High, both in May of 2025.

She was Aunt to Jennifer, Matthew, Sarah, Haley, Hannah, and Mac. Great aunt to Jacob, Max, and Ava.

Karla loved participating in the Woman's Bible Study Group and made lifelong friends and lasting memories. Karla and Jeff were friends with our couple's group consisting of Dawn and Dave Stotlar, Gera and Steve Beideck, Mary Ann and Dennis Llewellyn, and Kathy and Granville Wyatt.

Karla "walked" on Richmond (Virgina) Emmaus R73 in 2004 and had friends from women's walks as she served in various capacities in the community.

Karla and Jeff lived across the country, and loved each other deeply, first as friends, then as husband and wife, and most importantly deeply devoted to Christ Jesus and our church family.

Karla was the light of the room, and her family's "Rock." Her sense of humor and her wit were a constant, as was her steadfast love for her family, and friends.
