Our mother, Karlene Frank, peacefully went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Mom was a faithful servant of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She touched many lives on this earthly journey. She kept busy with almost daily volunteer activities such as quilting with the Faith Lutheran quilters, singing with the Swinging Seniors, participating in church services at many care facilities, packaging food at FISH, and wherever her heart led her.
Mom was born in 1937 to Karl and Alma (Koessel) Scheibe in Marion, North Dakota, and grew up on a small farm just south of Marion. She was always a farm girl at heart. If you knew her well, you knew her favorite farm animals were the pigs. She and her brother, Paul, enjoyed all of the antics that children can get into while growing up on a farm. She graduated from Marion High School in 1955, and went to college in Valley City, North Dakota for a two-year teaching degree. She then attended Havre for her master’s degree.
Mom loved teaching. She started her teaching career in Edgley and Hope, North Dakota. She taught in Great Falls, Montana for over 30 years at McKinley and Mountain View Elementary schools. She had a very special place in her heart for her 6th grade students.
Mom and Dad, Robert Frank, were married in 1958. They brought us into life and gave us wonderful memories. They moved to Great Falls in 1966. Camping, family vacations, ball games, and backyard visits were some of our favorite things to do together. After retirement, they loved to have new adventures including apple picking in Washington, spending a month in the winter in Utah, and traveling to new places. Their adventures ended way too soon with Dad’s death in 1996.
Mom deeply loved her family and friends. Her grandsons meant the world to her, and she made time to enjoy their many activities as they grew up. Family time was important, and we have an abundance of memories of great times spent together. Her weekly phone calls with her brother to reminisce about the good old days on the farm were so special to her. Mom’s friends were precious to her, and she loved every minute of the time she spent with them.
What a journey! A little farm girl from Marion, ND positively impacted the lives of so many through her faith, her husband, her girls, her extended family, her friends, and her students. Well done, good and faithful servant! We have been so blessed.
Mom is survived by her daughters, Lynae Holmen and Lori Williams; special sons-in-law, Barry Holmen and Joe Williams; cherished grandsons, Micah and Jacob Holmen and Cody Williams; brother, Paul Schiebe; daughter by choice, Rhonda Zobrak and her husband, Ron and their two boys, Mitchell and Nathan; her brothers-in-law, Vernon and Norman Frank; and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Special thanks to Dave and Ginny Anderson for their wonderful support during a difficult time, to all of Mom’s caregivers including doctors and nurses at the Great Falls Clinic and Benefis, Courtesy Home Care, Highgate, and Peace Hospice.
