Karlene Jean McCarthy Haning

Karlene Jean McCarthy Haning, 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Denison, Texas, on Monday, June 30, 2025.
Karlene was born on January 29, 1947, in Lakewood, Colorado, to the late Walter McCarthy and Marie Gude McCarthy. A beloved fixture in downtown Denison, she worked at Barrett Cut-Rate Drug from 1985 to 1994 and later at Main Street Lumber from 1998 until her passing.
Known for her warm heart and generous spirit, Karlene was a friend to everyone she met, a mother figure to many, and a devoted grandmother. She had a passion for working with stained glass and cherished time spent with her friends and family. A member of Southside Baptist Church, she also enjoyed visiting other churches in the area.
Karlene was preceded in death by her parents; her stepparents, Pauline and M.T. Koonce; her brother, Walter "Butch" McCarthy; her husband, James A. Haning; and her son, Robert T. Haning.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Cinda Landers, and her grandson, Chase Landers, both of Denison, Texas. She also leaves behind many cherished family members and friends.
Family and friends will gather to visit from Monday, July 7, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home. There will be a private interment.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 11, 2025, at The Salvation Army of Grayson County, starting at 12:00 p.m. Food and refreshments will be served.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in her name to The Salvation Army of Grayson County or The American Cancer Society.
