Karol Reed, 70 of Creston died Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston. Services will be 1:30 PM Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Dwayne Henrichs will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Open visitation, with family receiving friends will be 12:30- 1:30 also on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials are to the Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston. Online condolences may be given under the obituary category at www.powersfh.com. Karol Reed was born August 11, 1939 in Winterset to Lela Josephine (Henrichs) Reed and Wilbur Frank Reed. He grew up in Thayer and graduated from Thayer High School. Karol was united in marriage to Alvie Rundberg on June 23, 1958 in Creston. They have one daughter, Kimberly Lynn Reed. He worked for the City of Creston for 40 years in addition to farming in the Thayer area. Karol especially enjoyed working on the farm and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Survivors include his wife Alvie Reed of Creston; one daughter Kimberly Reed of Creston; four grandchildren: Skyler Dean, Levi Joseph, Mattea Milree and Mariah Lynn Reed all of Creston; twin sister: Karon Jean Jones and his step-father: Lyle Kembery, both of Thayer. Karol was preceded in death by his mother, Lela Kembery, father Wilbur Reed; sister Marilyn Tostenson, niece Leslie Jones and his mother-in-law: Milree Balius.
