Kassiani "Kay" Golfinopoulos

Kassiani "Kay" Golfinopoulos passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025 in her home in Princeton.

She was born on June 9th, 1933 to John and Afroditi Kyriakos in the small village of Dhuvjan in what is now Albania. She was the youngest of three siblings; her sister Eleni and brother Chris predeceased her. Her father John emigrated to the United States by himself in search of better prospects. When Kay was in her early teens, the family reunited and settled in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she graduated from Becker Junior College.

Her life was forever changed when she met Stamatis Golfinopoulos, a recent arrival from Greece. They were married in Boston on May 6th, 1955 by the future Archbishop Iakovos and shared 52 wonderful years until Stamatis's death in 2007.

She would spend the happiest years of her life in Mercer County, NJ: First in Hamilton, then starting a family in Lawrence, and finally, the last 43 years in the house they built in Princeton. She had many memorable summers with family and friends in her home on Long Beach Island, where her warmth and graciousness made her the perfect hostess. She also treasured her trips back to Greece, where Stamatis and she made many dear friends.

Kay was a 70-year member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Trenton, NJ. She was honored at the 100 Year Anniversary of the Parish as a Grand Benefactor known for her deep faith and her support of our Hellenic heritage. She was a longtime member of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society as well as of the Daughters of Penelope. Both organizations recognized Kay for her dedication, philanthropy, and love for her community and church.

Above all else, Kay was a devoted mother. Her children were the greatest joy of her life, and she poured her heart and soul into raising them with unconditional love, selflessness, patience, and encouragement. In later years, Kay's greatest happiness came from spending time with her grandchildren.

Kay's legacy will be her deep love of Family, dear friends, and unwavering commitment to her community and church.

Her memory will be a lasting blessing to her family.

Surviving are her son Ted (wife Eva) of Skillman NJ and daughter Maria (husband Jordan) of Rockleigh NJ., and her beloved grandchildren: Kassiani and Stamatis Golfinopoulos, and Nicoletta, Adrianna, and Alexandra Yuelys. Also surviving are her nephew Nontas Konstantakis (Eva) and her nieces Maria Kozyri and Yiota Anninos.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1200 Klockner Rd., Hamilton, NJ.

Greek Orthodox funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM with Father James Pavlow officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Stamatis.
