Kate Stanley

Ms. Janice Kate Patterson Stanley, 68, of Ridgeland, entered into rest Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Friends of Caroline Hospice House in Ridgeland.

Born February 19, 1957, in Walterboro, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Angus A. Patterson, Sr. and the late Marie Crosby Patterson. Kate a longtime caregiver, was a retiree of the Jasper County School District where she worked in janitorial services. She was especially talented at knitting and made many beautiful throw blankets. She enjoyed spending time with her family and always centered her life around her grandchildren.

Surviving are: three children, Suzanne Lisa Lewis (Rob) of Honea Path, William G. Blain, II of Pennsylvania, and Janice Vazquez (Juan) of Ridgeland; a brother, Angus Patterson, Jr. of Walterboro; a sister, Ethel Bishop (Norris) of Johns Island; and five grandchildren, Juan Vazquez, Jr., Ariana Vazquez, Lainey Vazquez, Hunter Lewis, and Parker Lewis. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathy and Julia.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed in her memory to: Hendersonville Baptist Church Building Fund, 893 Bachelor Hill Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, February 17, 2026, from Hendersonville Baptist Church, 893 Bachelor Hill Road, Walterboro. The Reverend Doug Tuten officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 1:30pm that afternoon in the church sanctuary.
