Katherine Lucille Carstens, 86, of Goodlettsville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Born on Valentines Day in 1940 in Warren County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin Moore and Martha Avo Vaughn Moore. With a spirit both stubborn and loving, Katherine leaves behind a legacy rich in devotion to family, faith, and life’s simple joys.
Katherine was a woman of deep conviction and heart, proudest of the birth of her four children and her lifelong commitment to her salvation and Baptism. A longtime cherished member of the Hartsville Pike Church of Christ, her faith was a cornerstone of her existence and an inspiration to those who knew her.
A passionate lover of the arts and leisure, Katherine’s hobbies reflected a beautiful balance of creativity and curiosity. She delighted in crocheting intricate patterns, filling countless hours with the rhythmic grace of her handiwork. An avid reader, she immersed herself in stories that broadened her world. Her enjoyment of "The Price is Right" brought lighthearted moments to her days, while her fondness for Western movies echoed her appreciation for timeless narratives and enduring values. Moreover, Katherine embraced the wonders of travel, frequently journeying to places she loved such as Washington state, New York City, Long Island, and Florida. Each destination offering new memories to cherish.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Clyde Carstens; grandchildren Justin Anthony Harrison and Misty Fay Harrison; great granddaughter Gracie Denise Mayberry; step daughter Cindy Carstens; and siblings Lillian Pauline Moore Campbell, Roy Earl Moore, Clarence Woodroe Moore, James Franklin Moore, Jr., Malcolm David Moore, Albert Houston Moore, Cecil Joe "George" Moore, John Richard Moore, Bobby Edward Moore, and Terry L. Moore.
Her family was the heart of her life. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Linda Fay Cline, her son Danny Maynard, and her daughters Kimberly Hathaway and Krystal Green. She is also survived by her brothers Ezra Moore and Verble (Aleda) Moore, and her sister Barbara Ann (Albert) Campbell. Her legacy continues through the many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who carry her memory forward.
The community and loved ones are invited to honor Katherine’s life with a visitation at Hartsville Pike Church of Christ, located at 744 Hartsville Pike in Gallatin, Tennessee. The visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service officiated by Doyle Farris will immediately follow at 1 p.m. at the same location. Burial will take place thereafter at Sumner Memorial Gardens, 420 Albert Gallatin Avenue, Gallatin, Tennessee. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Moore, Darrell Ferguson, Corey Maynard, Elizabeth Maynard, Logan Conyer, Phillip Conyer, Josh Conyer, Jeff Crunk and Shawn Barrett.
