Katherine Fitzpatrick

Katherine Fitzpatrick, 56 of Elmwood Park, N.J. passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024. Beloved wife of James J. Fitzpatrick; loving mother of Anne and Megan; cherished daughter of Demetrios and Anna Hios.
A 1986 graduate of Clifton High School, Katherine earned her bachelor and masters degrees in education from William Paterson University. As a teacher, she touched the lives of hundreds of students passing through her kindergarten classroom over the course of her thirty-year career. As a faithful member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, she also volunteered her time as a teacher in the parish's Sunday school program and served as a member of the Daughters of Penelope philanthropic organization. She was passionate about the advancement of child literacy and championed the creation of a lending library at her church so that children of all ages could borrow and read books in both Greek and English languages. Her unwavering dedication and love for teaching left an indelible mark on all of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
She was a dedicated friend and adored by her family. She will be missed by so many.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove, NJ 07009. A memorial service is planned for Monday, December 30, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 818 Valley Road, Clifton, N.J. 07013. Please meet directly at the church. Burial services will follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton, N.J.
