Mrs. Katherine Carol "Bug" Mcvey, 56, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday morning, September 23, 2025 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Art and Evelyn Smith born October 13, 1968 in Knox County.

Katherine was a devoted homemaker and of the Pentecostal Faith. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, taking walks and tending to her flowers. She was always ready for a shopping trip and enjoyed getting a manicure and having her makeup done. Katherine most enjoyed time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Zayla Tate.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jeffery McVey, sister, Rebecca Bruner and brother-in-law, Douglas Ray.

Survivors include her loving children, Arthur McVey, Christopher McVey, Joshua Wilburn, Emily McVey and fiancé Dalton Scott, Matthew Ledford and Haley McVey; cherished granddaughter, Zayla Tate; sister, Nancy Barnes; nieces and nephews, Wendy Ray, Teia Ray, Desirae Bruner, Marcus Bruner and Dustin Ray; brother-in-law, Mark Bruner; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, September 26 at 2 P.M. with Bro. Phillip Proffitt officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Smith Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Joshua Wilburn, Matthew Ledford, Dalton Scott, Jonah Scott, Arthur Ray McVey and Marcus Bruner. Serving as an honorary bearer is Dustin Ray.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
