Mr. John "Johnny" Earl Bruner, 74, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 26, 2025 at his home. He was born January 13, 1951 in Knox County, the son of the late Columbus Bruner and Maude Carey Bruner Hubbs.

Johnny was a former employee of Smith's Body Shop and a member of the Apple Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching westerns and detailing and restoring old cars.

On June 30, 1975, he united in marriage with Ronnie Simpson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Taylor Nicholas and a grandson, Collier Bruner.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ronnie Bruner of Barbourville; children, Cecilia Simpson of Artemus, Angela and John Bruner both of Barbourville; grandchildren, Krista Napier and husband, Coby, Brandon Simpson, Trevor Sinpson and wife, Ashley, Josh and Colby Simpson and Hazel Breanna Shay Sizemore; two great grandchildren, Aiden Simpson and one expected to arrive soon; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A celebration of his life will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, July 31 at 6 P.M. with Rev. Glenn Collins officiating.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday after 4 P.M. until the service time.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
