Katherine was a dear friend of my sister Naomi's and I've been lucky enough to tag along many times and get to know her over the years. I will remember her friendship, sense of humor, willingness to turn anything into an adventure, intelligence, bright spirit, and loyalty to her friends.

This is one of those nothing-seems-right situations. Mestas family, know that the memory of Katherine will be held in so many hearts. I'm thinking of you all, and when I see her picture I still can't believe she's gone.

Although I only saw you briefly and spoke with you a little, my most significant memories/thoughts of you were through your Mom and Dad. It is/was not possible for a child to be more loved than how much each loved you. I am so very sorry you left so soon. There is no one to take your place, nor will there ever be. You touched so many hearts most of whom you were unaware of.
Rest In Peace and love.

Dear Katherine,

My brief time with you was very special to me. I did not know when I met you that you had just found out that you were sick, nor did I have any suspicion... because you were so warm, and loving, funny and bubbly. I didn't know at the time how strong and amazing that ability was. Your smile was instantly infectious and I remarked to you several times that you reminded me of the best features of my own sister. Your generosity of spirit touched me immediately and I felt like I had known you for a long time, after only a few minutes. It was serendipitous that I just happen to sit next to you at that dinner party and got to enjoy the pleasure of your company and a long conversation throughout the night. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to know you better, beyond that evening and brief exchanges later on. However, I want you to know that although my time with you was short, it was full of such quality and you impacted and enriched my life, just by having met you. I'm sure many, many people could say the same, because you really were one of the warmest people I have ever met. I'm lucky to have known you, sweet girl.
