Katherine Marie Richardson, affectionately known as Kathy, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, in Mason, Ohio. Born on June 5, 1935, in Hamilton, Ohio, she was a beloved daughter of William and Hester (nee Murphy) Specht. Kathy's early life was marked by her education, graduating from William Mason High School in 1953, a milestone that undoubtedly set the foundation for her remarkable journey.
Kathy's love story began when she was introduced to Elza Carl Richardson by a mutual friend. The couple's bond flourished, culminating in their marriage on October 30, 1954, in the Methodist Church on Church Street in Mason, Ohio.
As a proud member of the Mason United Methodist Church, Kathy was strong in her faith and dedicated to praying for her family daily. Her spiritual life was intertwined with her family’s well being, reflecting her unwavering love and support for them.
Kathy had a great appreciation for nature. Though she may not have worked in the flower garden herself, she found immense joy in the vibrant blooms that filled it, always taking the time to feed the birds that frequented her yard. This connection to nature mirrored her love for collecting antiques, particularly teacups and bells, which helped preserve many generations of family heirlooms.
Kathy took great pride in her appearance, enjoying dressing nicely and always accessorizing with scarves and jewelry. Her personality was a blend of elegance and warmth that touched those around her, making her a cherished figure within her family and community.
Kathy is survived by her loving son, William "Bill" (Lisa) Richardson. She was the proud grandmother of four granddaughters: Katie (Dwayne) McGeorge, Lora Richardson, Bonnie (Jason) Gehlauf, and Andrea (Kyle) Jones. Her legacy extends further through her great-grandchildren: Evan McGeorge, Ryan McGeorge, Bennett Gehlauf, Gavin Gehlauf, Hadley Gehlauf, Makena Jones, and Malia Jones.
She is predeceased by her husband, Elza Richardson, whose memory remains etched in the hearts of her family, as well as her father, William Specht, and her mother, Hester Specht.
In recognition of Kathy's life and legacy, visitation will be held on February 19, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, located at 6791 Tylersville Rd, Mason, Ohio. A private family interment will immediately follow in West Chester Cemetery.
If desired, memorial donations may be directed to The Family Promise of Warren County.
Katherine Marie Richardson will be remembered not just for her many roles as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but also for the light she brought into the lives of those who knew and loved her. Her spirit will live on through the many memories created and shared by her family and friends.
