Katherine Jaeger Smykowski passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old.
Born on March 14, 1937, Kay shared her birthday with her beloved twin sister, Kathleen. Throughout her life, she was known for her deep devotion to her family, her generous heart, and the enduring friendships she cultivated with so many.
Kay was the cherished wife of Don Smykowski, with whom she built a strong and loving marriage. Together, they raised four children: sons Richard (deceased 2008) and Bruce (Linda), and daughters Kim (Mark) and Jill Stone, along with Jill’s husband, Tom Stone. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Nickolas Jaeger Stone and Zachary Thomas Stone, whose lives she touched with warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support.
Kay’s life was defined by her quiet strength, her kindness, and her commitment to those she loved. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her.
All services will be held at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 18th. Visitation will begin at 10am, with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11am. Donations may be made in memory of Kay to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital, an organization she regularly contributed to that is near-and-dear to her heart.
