Obituary published on Legacy.com by Waldo Funeral Home - Sherman on Jan. 31, 2025.
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Katherine Virginia Thacker, on January 29th, 2025, at the age of 82. Heaven was ready but we were not. A devout Catholic, Katherine spent her life dedicated to her faith, family, friends, and community. She was a woman of boundless kindness, whose warm heart touched everyone she met. She had a laugh that was contagious.
Born in Elgin, Oklahoma, on April 10, 1942, Katherine was a pillar of strength in the family and a constant source of love. She found joy in the simplest of things-whether it was spending time with her family, playing games with friends, or sharing in the fellowship of her church community. She lived her life grounded in the principles of charity and service, often giving her time and energy to those in need.
A lover of music, Katherine also had a zest for life that shone through in her love of line dancing with the Kiowa Women's Club. She embraced every step and every rhythm with grace and enthusiasm.
Katherine made sure her voice was represented in her community by voting any opportunity she had, participating in political opportunities by learning anything she could to support the place she called home.
Above all, Katherine was a loving mother, sister, wife, grandmother, and friend. She poured her heart into her family, always putting others first and making each moment together special. Her unwavering faith and generosity left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Katherine Virgina Thacker is preceded in death by her parents, Homer Leroy Forsythe and Clara Katherine Forsythe, her brother Homer Leroy Forsythe Jr., and her beloved husband of 58 years of Don Thacker, and their infant sons Ronnie and Lonnie Thacker. She was survived by her two sisters, Mary Jenson and Juanita Sullivan, her daughters, Karin Lamb and spouse Teresa Simmons of Van Alstyne, Texas and Shana Hughes of Bentonville, Arkansas. Grandchildren include Courtney Dyess-Mam of Van Alstyne, Texas, Tiffany Solis of Dallas, Texas, Tyler Albrecht of McKinney, Texas, Clayton Lamb of Caddo Mills, Texas, Logan Thomas of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Dalton Thomas of Bentonville, Arkansas and Austin Hughes of Fayetteville, Arkansas and spouses.
