Katherine Marie Vicory, 72, of Santa Maria, California, passed away peacefully at her home on January 17, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born in Neosho Mo, on July 12, 1949, to Robert C Porter and Virginia E Carter (Smith.) She married Harry F. Vicory in 1978 in Miami Oklahoma. They were married for 20 years, and he passed in 1997. Katherine worked as a housekeeper at Quality Suites Inn in San Luis Obispo, California in 1990. She also worked as a housekeeper for Sea Venture Inn for 6 years 1991-1997. She retired as a housekeeper in 1997. She loved to go for walks and just riding around in the car with her family. She loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren. She looked forward to the holidays to have her family together.
Katherine is survived by her daughters, Opal Vicory (Mike), of Santa Maria, California. Tricia Smeda (Neville) of Nipomo, California, and one stepdaughter, Tammie Davenport (Richard) of Joplin, Mo, a sister, Wanda Turner (Don), of Neosho, Mo, and a brother, Nathan Smith of Joplin, Mo. She has nine Grandchildren, Kimberly Slaton of Los Osos, Alex Ortiz, Michael Ortiz, Matthew Ortiz, Kyle Smeda, Shane Smeda, all of Nipomo, California and two step grandchildren Natasha Housley (William) of Seneca, Mo and children, and Paul Springer (Cassie) of Joplin, Mo, and children, Caleb Davenport of Joplin, Mo. She is survived by her blood niece and nephew, Evelyn Gilstrap (Rodney) Seneca, Mo., and Levi Wade, Neosho, Mo, and many other nieces and nephews.
She has 13 great grandchildren, Alexis Wellford, Aubree Robins, Kayden Slaton, Avalynn Kay Slaton of Los Osos California, and Raymond Ortiz of Nipomo California and others.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harry F. Vicory in 1997, and her parents: Robert C. Porter and Virginia E. Porter (Smith) and sister: Anna Marie Smith.
The viewing and the Celebration of Life Services will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in San Luis Obispo, California, at 3396 Johnson Ave with Pastor: Doug Pittman officiating. February 12,2022, the viewing will be at 9:00 am and the service will be following at 10:00 am. Following will be a Graveside service at Arroyo Grande Cemetery in Arroyo Grande, California. A reception will follow at 3396 Johnson Ave at the Church of the Nazarene. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Lady Family Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Hospice in Santa Maria California in memory of Katherine Vicory. The address is 124 S. College Drive, Santa Maria, CA. Attn: Juliet Bryan or James Roemmich. The family of Katherine Vicory wishes to thank Hospice for taking care of our loved one. A special thank you goes out to Tawna her case manager for Hospice, JoAnn her shower aide, and Terri. Katherine enjoyed Terri playing the guitar when she came. Katherine thought a lot of these ladies. Thank you also to the Hospice chaplain, Steve, for being so caring toward our loved one. We wish to thank the wonderful people who have donated to her service and burial expenses.
