Katherine Maxwell Williams, age 89, of Talbott, TN went to be with the Lord, March 17, 2026. Katherine was a devoted woman of faith and was baptized on May 5, 1946 at the age of 10. She was a member of Alpha Baptist Church and an alto in the choir for many years. She had a passion for teaching children about Jesus and taught children’s Sunday School for 70 years. Katherine was a telephone operator with AT&T for over 40 years. After retiring, she served as president of the Telephone Pioneers of America in Morristown, TN for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Ernest Williams; parents, Eulis and Ruby Maxwell; infant twin, Kenneth Maxwell; brothers, Elmer Maxwell and W. Clarence Maxwell; and sister, Betty Maxwell Pressnell. Katherine is survived by her daughter, Linda (Jeff) Clark; son, Melvin (Melissa) Williams; grandchildren, Mikayla Clark, Nicholas (Victoria) Daniels, Hannah (Jordan) Clark Durham, and Alexis Williams; great-grandchildren, Rylee Glass and Lincoln Daniels; several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family would like to give a special thank you to UT Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Alpha Baptist Church, or a charity of your choice in her honor.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. at Alpha Baptist Church with a funeral service to follow with Pastor Heath Smith officiating. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 12:00p.m. at Yeary #2 Cemetery in Middlesboro, KY with Rev. Ronnie Pressnell officiating.
