Katherine Young, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on August 10, 1935, Katy led a vibrant life characterized by her passion for the outdoors and her love for athletics. Her spirit shone brightly, reflecting her dedication to her family and the joy she found in spending time with her grandchildren.
Katy is survived by her husband, Walter Young, and their two daughters, Gail (Michael) Valenti and Lori (Ronald) Morris. She took immense pride in her five grandchildren—Nicholas (Devan) Valenti, Patrick (Shelby) Morris, Kelly (Jake) Medford, Kerri (David) Allen, and Shawn Morris—who were a significant part of her life. Katherine also cherished her six great-grandchildren, Anthony Valenti, Connor Morris, Gianna Valenti, Hailey Morris, Chase Allen, and Addison Medford, who brought her endless joy.
Preceding her in death were her mother, Nellie Kaufmann, and father, Elmer Kaufmann. Katy’s legacy of love will remain in the hearts of her surviving family members and friends.
At the request of the family, all services will be held privately. Katy's memory will continue to inspire those who loved her, reminding them of the importance of family and the joy of life well-lived.
