Kathie Meukow Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Westgor Funeral Home - Menasha on Feb. 12, 2026.
Kathie Meukow, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away after a brief illness on February 5, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. She was born on November 4, 1951, in Neenah, Wisconsin, to Harold "Zip" and Eula Asmus. She graduated from Menasha High School in 1971.

Kathie spent many dedicated years as a teller at Prospera Credit Union, where she truly valued her coworkers and the customers she served each day.

Kathie married the love of her life, Gerd Meukow, on October 25, 1974. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with two daughters, Michelle and Christine, and two cherished grandsons, Devin and Cameron. Their family shared countless hours together, creating treasured traditions and amazing memories that will be carried in their hearts forever.

Kathie and Gerd cherished a very dear, close-knit group of couples who became like family to them. They shared countless hours playing golf and cards, enjoyed bowling nights, and went on many fun outings together. Their laughter, camaraderie, and love for one another brought immense joy-not only to their own lives, but to everyone around them.

Kathie was preceded in death by her husband, Gerd; their daughter, Michelle; her parents, Harold and Eula Asmus; her brother, Harold Asmus Jr.; her sister, Marsha Asmus-Friou; her brother, Gerald "Fuzzy" Asmus; her in-laws, Hans and Meta Meukow; her brother-in-law, Dietmar Mirwaldt; and her niece, Petra (Mirwaldt) Behncke.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine Meukow; her grandsons, Devin and Cameron Meukow; her brother, Robert (Lori) Asmus, and their sons, Jason (Larissa) Asmus and Andrew (Jessi) Asmus; her sister-in-law, Carla (David) Reidenbach, and their daughters, Amy (Matt) Van Zeeland and Kelsey Reidenbach; her sister-in-law, Christa Mirwaldt, and her daughters, Petra Mirwaldt and Uta Krueger; as well as many loving nieces and nephews: Lisa (Reto) Pikolin and Isabelle; Karen (Tim) Mann, Beth (Kevin) Carlyle, Leo Asmus, John (Brenda) Asmus, Kimberly (Joe) Vergin, Kaylin Asmus, Jennifer (Chuck) Sprecher, Lisa (Tom) Rauls, Rebecca (Reid) Brown, Benjamin (Krystal) Friou, and Amanda Friou.

A funeral service for Kathie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Westgor Funeral Home in Menasha. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

God's love shines through a mother's love-

not always loud.

A mother's love sometimes lives in quiet ways:

in showing up, in standing firm,

in her commitment to see us do our best.

It doesn't always know the perfect words

or how to soften every ache,

but dedication-steady and sure-

is a love that never learned to break.

Grief is the language of the heart,

a way of honoring the love we carry.

Love lives on beyond what we can see,

and though the world may say I've left,

I am still here-

always near,

always watching,

always loving.

All my love, always,

to my dear daughter, loving grandsons, baby brother,

sisters-in-law, my brother-in-law,

and all my dear friends.
