In Loving Memory of Kathleen A. Bieker

Kathleen A. Bieker of Dover, Delaware passed away on August 19, 2025, following a prolonged illness, surrounded by the love of her family. A native of Ireland, Indiana, Kathleen graduated as valedictorian of her high school class. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Evansville and later completed a Master's degree at Central Michigan University.

Her career began in the classroom, where she taught mathematics with dedication and clarity. She later transitioned into university administration, first at Central Michigan University and subsequently at the University of Delaware, bringing a thoughtful and compassionate approach to her work.

Kathleen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose gentle spirit and deep kindness touched all who knew her. She held a special place in her heart for her grandsons and found great joy in time spent with her family.

An avid traveler and hiker, Kathleen shared many adventures with her husband, Richard. Some of her most cherished memories were made exploring the mountains of Western Maryland and Pennsylvania, the Tatras of Slovakia, and walking along the banks of the Nitra River. She also took pleasure in tending her garden and cheering on her favorite college basketball teams.

Kathleen is lovingly remembered by her husband Richard; her son Daniel and his wife Joy; her grandsons Matthew and Mark; and her siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Keusch, and two brothers.

In keeping with her generous and compassionate nature, Kathleen chose to donate her body to science in the hope of contributing to the well-being of others. Memorial services in her honor will be held at a later date.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers---Luetrissia Purnell, Monica Impollonia, Kathleen Maurice, and Salome Tice--- and nurse Brianna Redlich for their unwavering support and kindness during her illness.
