Carolyn June Caldas, 85, of Center, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born on February 6, 1941, in Florien, Louisiana, to the late Roy L. Cook Sr. and Opal (Westfall) Cook.

Graveside service will be held at 10AM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Florien Cemetery, 1646 N Nolan Trace, Florien, Louisiana, 71429, with Rev. Kirk Mayo and Rev. Dathan Triplett officiating.

Visitation will be held from 6-8PM on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Mangum Funeral Home.

Carolyn graduated from Florien High School, where she began to shape a life marked by warmth and community involvement. Her personality was a rare blend of humor and warmth, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood while making everyone feel welcome and valued. Her kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew her. She met the love of her life, Arthur Caldas, in Dover, Delaware, while she was babysitting for family. He was serving in the United States Airforce. The two soon joined in marriage on October 18, 1964, and spent over 55 years together before his passing in 2019.

Carolyn was also a woman of many talents and hobbies. She was an accomplished pianist and singer, often gracing her family and friends with beautiful music. Cooking was another passion, and she delighted in preparing delicious meals that brought everyone together. An excellent seamstress, Carolyn crafted beautiful clothes, adding a touch of elegance and care to her creations. Her love for engaging conversations was evident, as she never met a stranger, always finding a way to connect and share a moment of kindness.

A devout attendee of Center First, Carolyn's faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and interactions. Her spirituality was expressed through her daily deeds and the love she spread within her community.

Her legacy of love, laughter, and service will be cherished and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Carolyn's life was a testament to the beauty of nurturing relationships and community through every action and word.
