Obed Caldas Obituary
Born in New York City, Obed has resided in Carteret for the past 33 years and has been employed with Sodexo. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower gardens every spring and summer as well as frequently vacationing in Florida; visiting the many beaches. Obed was also a coin and knife collector while his true passion was looking after his beloved grandchildren; he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed.
Obed was predeceased by his parents, Nicasio and Clara Rodriguez. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Karen Caldas; children, Obed Caldas, Jr. with his wife Irami, Priscila Bollaci with her husband Fred and Mark Caldas with his wife Ashley; grandchildren, Rebecca and Vincent Caldas, Cassidy and Mason Bollaci and Aubrey and Addison Caldas along with his sister, Margie Almeyda with her husband Raul.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30am on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at Divine Mercy Parish - Holy Family R.C. Church in Carteret. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 3pm to 7pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Obed may be made to American Cancer Society.
