Virginia Caldas Obituary

Virginia "Gigi" Caldas
May 3, 1941 - October 1, 2021
Midland, Georgia - Virginia, who was affectionately known as "Gigi" by those closest to her passed away peacefully Friday, October 01, 2021.
Her love for children was palpable until the day she departed from us along with a love for all mankind. She served many and loved even more. She loved knitting booties for anyone she met. Her small acts of kindness live on in the lives she touched, for none were strangers but friends. She was full of good humor, sage advice and a longing to be remembered as a friend and someone who always cared for others more than herself.
She was a matriarch of the highest order. An amazing mother, astonishing grandmother. She raised her children with love for God and man, and just as she was done raising her own, she took on raising two more children that she loved as her own.
She always greeted each of us with a warm embrace. She always bid you farewell with a sincere longing for you to return soon.
She will be remembered in flowers; particularly roses and gardenias. In birds; most notably by hummingbirds which brought a smile to her face everytime she heard the sound of their wings. And in rituals and holidays; most especially at Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. Virginia embodied the promise of Spring and the twinkling of tinsel. Like a child she never ceased to be amazed by the decorations, the food and all the good that she could find everywhere.
She was a lover of theater, having been a member of many a theatrical production in her homeland. She loved to sing. She loved listening to Andrea Bocelli and other great singers.
An avid reader she could frequently be found with a book in her hands. She also had an amazing talent for Knitting, crocheting and anything in between, so many friends were the recipient of her many talents.
She loved the USA and the great blessings that came from living here, she learned to drive and speak English when he was already in her 50's. Her fiery go-get attitude meant that nothing was too hard or too late to learn/experience in this goodly land
She never took the blessings of her home and gardens for granted, she shared the bounty of her fig trees with families and friends.
As her health declined, many contributed to her emotional wellbeing, we are grateful for those that did not forget her in her last days.
She left behind two daughters, and two grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed, her kindness and great love will leave a chasm never to be filled again until we reunite and can see each other's faces and embrace in a heavenly embrace
We will miss her "more than tongues can tell."
