LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Kathleen “Kathy” Rose Andrews, age 62, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 at MUSC-Lancaster. She was born February 2, 1964, in New Jersey City, NJ, the daughter of the late Matthew Andrews and the late Monica Leonard Andrews and was the loving wife of Amy June Hill Andrews.
Kathy proudly served her country in the United States Army for eight years. During her service, she was part of the groundbreaking movement that helped pave the way for women to serve in active combat roles on foreign soil. She served with honor during both Desert Shield and Desert Storm, demonstrating courage, strength, and unwavering dedication to her country.
Beyond her military service, Kathy lived life with passion and adventure. She was a devoted animal lover and found great joy in the companionship of animals throughout her life. An avid traveler, Kathy explored destinations across the world, embracing new cultures and experiences wherever she went. She also loved the open road and cherished riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle, finding freedom and peace in every ride.
Kathy will be remembered for her brave heart, adventurous spirit, and the meaningful legacy she leaves behind through her service, love, and determination. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Kathy is survived by her wife, Amy Andrews; her step-son, Joseph Benenhaley; her brother, Thomas Andrews; and her best friend, Anna Papineau.
She is preceded in death by parents, Matthew and Monica Andrews.
The Celebration of Life Service for Kathy will be held privately.
