Kathleen Ann Ernest, of LaGrange, passed away on May 23, 2024. She was born in Tecumseh, Nebraska on December 24, 1950, to the late Roland Beethe and Verna Miller Beethe. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ernest is preceded in death by her brother, Paul Beethe.
Throughout her life, Kathleen dedicated her time to helping and serving others. She was an occupational therapist for 40 years and made a huge impact on the recovery of her patients. In Lagrange, Kathleen donated her time to the board of the United Way, Success by Six, being a New Ventures board member, and volunteering at Western Heights Food Distribution. In addition, she served as the president of the Willowood Garden Club and was an active member of Wesley Methodist Church-participating in the Trinity Sunday School Class, Wesley Women's Bible Study, and vice-president of Wesley Women. Kathleen was an avid reader and participated in the Southern by Choice Book Club. She spent countless hours spreading her passion for literacy by reading weekly at Pride and Joy Daycare. In her free time, Kathleen enjoyed travelling with her husband, Gene, playing Mexican Train and Bunco, and making memories with her family and friends. Kathleen lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger.
Mrs. Ernest is survived by her husband, Billy Gene Ernest, Sr.; her daughters, Kristin McDonough (Mike) and Jennifer Gruseck (James); her stepchildren, Billy "Bill" Gene Ernest, Jr. (Ursula) and Wendy Wilkins (Steven); her grandchildren, Maddie, Maya, and Clark; her step-grandchildren, Brad, Matthew, Graham, and Jacob.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Wesley Methodist Church in the Western Heights Baptist Church Gymnasium, 2382 West Point Road, LaGrange, Georgia, 30240.
