Kathleen Rose Binder, 85, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026.

Kathleen, lovingly known as “Dolly,” was born on January 30, 1941, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Reuben and Rosie (Border) Krueger. She was the second oldest of eight siblings and grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. She graduated from Plainview Academy in 1959.

She was married to Dennis Binder for 35 years, and together they raised three children: Dennis Jr., Carmen, and Travis. Kathleen was a devoted homemaker and a wonderful mother who dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sioux City.

In 1992, Kathleen became a grandmother—a role she embraced with all her heart. She was the kind of grandma every child dreams of. There were always sugary treats, Friday night dinners, and even the occasional bang trim with Scotch tape. She enjoyed sunbathing on hot days with her frozen bottle of ice that slowly melted into cold water. She took pride in her freshly painted nails and her brightened hair with Sun-In Hair Lightener. Above all, she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply.

“God saw you getting weary. He did what He thought best. He put His arms around you and said, ‘Come and rest.’ He opened His golden gate on that heartbreaking day. With His arms around you, you gently slipped away. It broke our hearts to lose you; you did not go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home.”

Survivors include her two sons, Dennis Binder Jr. of Sioux City and Travis (Tammy) Binder of Lawton; her daughter, Carmen (Terry) Hynek of Wilbur; grandchildren: Cayla Binder, Amanda (James) Doiel, Michael (Wendi) Gushard, Brittney Gran, and Lexi Binder; great-grandchildren: Carter, Benjamin, Brock, Calym, Bryce, Brooklyn, Chloe, Tucker, and Savannah; her brother, Dick Krueger of Sioux City; and her sister, Mazie Mears of South Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Judy, Gloria, and Barbara; and her brothers, Reuben and Robert.

Abiding by her wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are to be held.
