Kathleen Dunhoff Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Elkins East Chapel - Killen on Jan. 31, 2026.
Mrs. Kathleen S. Dunhoff, age 74 of Lexington, passed away on January 29, 2026 surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Monday, February 2, 2026 at the First Baptist Church in Lexington and will begin at 5pm.

Kathy loved God and her family above all else in this world.

She was raised in Pittsburgh, PA where would also later meet her husband Gary, a U.S. Marine. They had been married 36 years the day she came home on hospice. The family moved to Virginia Beach in 1990 where they lived for almost 25 years.

Kathy was a Paralegal, Paramedic and then and ER Tech while in Virginia Beach. When retirement time came, they moved to Lexington, AL where she got to live out the Mayberry lifestyle she always dreamed of. Riding horses on her farm and spending time with her donkeys, horses and grandkids made her life wonderful.

Preceded in death her father, Howard Speer and mother, Monah Speer

She is survived by her husband, Gary Dunhoff; children, Lisa (Lee) Thornton, Amy Malone; grandchildren, Madison (Hayden) Hitt, Matthew Thornton, Mina Thornton, Jordyn Malone, T.J. Malone, Amonte Asbelle-Halsey, Jelani Kingera; great grandchild, Kymeir Malone. Brother David (MaryJo) Speer.

Elkins East Chapel in Killen is assisting the family.

Kathy was a wonderful horseback riding friend. Always willing to give a horse another chance, she would bring some over here for rides in our woods with great results. I got to ride at her place a couple of times and enjoyed the beautiful trails there. She was always so welcoming and cheerful, I´m glad I knew her. My heart goes out to her family.
