McKinney, TX/Rutland, MA-Kathleen P. “Kathy” Faucher, aged 83 and a half, passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family on October 21, 2025, in McKinney, Texas. She was born on April 21, 1942 (also Queen Elizabeth’s birthday as she liked to remind her family) in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Helen and Fred Scales. She was a proud graduate of South High School. She earned her Bachelor’s degree, Master of Education, and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Worcester State University. She married the love of her life, Thom Faucher, on November 11, 1967, and he kept her laughing for 57+ years. After a short time in Pennsylvania, they settled in Rutland, Massachusetts, in 1971. She taught elementary school for many years at Lamartine Elementary School before becoming an Occupational Therapist. As an OT, she helped countless children and families in Leominster and Southbridge by teaching them life skills and educating them.
She loved to walk and made the trek uphill to the Rutland Buffalo Farm often, and later walked countless miles on the golf course in Heritage Ranch. As an avid reader, there were always a pile of books nearby, and she loved visiting local libraries. She was an amazing gardener and had beautiful gardens filled with flowers and vegetables, and became a Master Gardener in Texas. In 2006, Thom and Kathy retired and moved to McKinney, Texas, to be close to their son, Tom, his wife, Tammy, and their grandchildren. They had fun traveling and exploring their new state and enjoyed visiting the Dallas Arboretum and the State Fair of Texas. Each summer their four grandchildren stayed with them for Kids Camp, where they did lots of fun activities together. The kids loved eating her ginger snap cookies, nutmeg bars, and apple pies.
Kathy loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Thom; brother, Jim Scales (Yuki) of Raleigh, North Carolina; sister, Joan Provost (Roland) of Bolivia, North Carolina; daughter, Annemarie Faucher James (Boyce) of Sandy, Utah; son, Tom Faucher (Tammy) of Allen, Texas; and grandchildren, Emily and Lindsey Faucher, and Ronan and Aine-Grace Luck. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Walter Scales.
