Paul Bidgood Obituary

Visit the Fay Brothers Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.

Paul Francis Bidgood, age 68, of West Boylston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Paul is survived by his wife Patricia (Pellegrini) Bidgood of 38 years; his children Rachel Bidgood and her husband Michael Dunlevy, Paul Bidgood Jr., Sarah Bidgood, and his grandson Jack.

The fourth of eight children of William Bidgood and Helen (McCabe) Bidgood, Paul was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on March 9, 1957, and grew up in Hudson and Melrose, Massachusetts. In addition to his wife, children, and grandson, he is survived by his brother-in-law Kenneth Wilson, and his siblings  Wm. John Bidgood Jr. and his wife Maureen, Elizabeth Curnane, James Bidgood, Peter Bidgood and his wife Lori, Andrew Bidgood and his wife Allison, George Bidgood and his wife Kerri, and many nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister Mary Bidgood Wilson, and brother-in-law Joseph Curnane.

Paul attended Pope John XXIII High School in Everett, Massachusetts, where he made lifelong friends and met his high school sweetheart, and future wife, Patty, in 1974. He then attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he earned his degree in civil engineering in 1981. Always eager to learn, Paul later obtained his Juris Doctorate from the Massachusetts School of Law in 1994 while working full-time and caring for a young family.

After graduating, Paul held various jobs around the greater Boston area, including many years working on the Central Artery and the Ted Williams Tunnel (known as the “Big Dig”). Before retiring, he worked for Raytheon Technologies in Andover.

Growing up, Paul’s family of ten would pack into their car and go on trips to “camp.” Those many trips to Vermont during his formative years instilled a lifelong love for the outdoors. Paul treasured every moment spent unplugged at camp, from quiet walks in the woods to deer hunting, camp projects, family reunions, bonfires, and stargazing. Paul loved history and dedicated many hours to preserving family stories. His time in Vermont, surrounded by family and friends, brought him some of his greatest happiness. In recent years, he especially treasured sharing Vermont and his love of the outdoors with his grandson.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who faced his cancer diagnosis with determination and optimism, exemplifying his approach to life. Above all, Paul will be remembered for his warm, humble, and generous spirit, always giving so much to those he loved without expecting anything in return. He will be deeply missed for many years to come.

Paul’s family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by the doctors, nurses, and other medical staff on the oncology and research teams at the Dana-Farber.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul’s name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to support cancer research and patient care at:
