Kathleen Goelz Obituary
Kathleen Ann (Sopko) Goelz, January 19, 1936 - January 28, 2026, born to the late Joseph and Ann in Chicago. Wife of 51years to the late Harry (lovingly known as Pete) Goelz, Jr. Devoted mom to Dan, Lisa (Mark) Messaglia and Denise (Tim) Dalton. Proudest Grammie of Matt (Lindsey), Adam, Zack, Will and Ally. Preceded in death by her sister, Joan and cousins John and Candi. "Auntie Kay" and "Grammie" to many biological family members, and family created by the close bonds of friendship. In her 90 years, Kay developed strong friendships at Lindblom High School, Railroad Retirement Board, Incarnation Parish, District 128, Riviera Country Club, Orland Park Health Club, and most importantly the Austin View neighborhood. After her retirement from the currency exchanges, Kay's time was filled with exercise, lunches, and shopping with her closest friends, especially Nancy and Joyce. Kay loved to be on the go and day trip around Chicago and vacation around the globe, but her trips to Disney with her family are the most treasured memories.
Visitation Friday 3-8 p.m.
Funeral Saturday 9:15 a.m. from the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st Street, Orland Park, IL to St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Mass 10:00 a.m.
Interment private
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Misericordia Foundation in support of her dear Sherry Ann. Please indicate family number #1349 on any donation.
