Rudolph "Rudy" Joseph Smolka, 77, of Park Ridge, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025.

Born on January 19, 1948, in Chicago, and raised in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. A proud graduate of Lindblom Technical High School and Illinois College, he built a long and respected career as an accountant. Away from work, Rudy embraced all things Chicago, especially his beloved Bears and White Sox.

Rudy married the love of his life, Cynthia "Cindi" Smolka née Swierkosz in 1970, and together they created a home filled with laughter, support, and cherished memories. He was the devoted father of two children, Matthew (Julia) Smolka and Lauren (Jason) Arndt, and a loving Dzia Dzia to five grandchildren: Andrew, Ella, Benjamin, Christopher, and Jessica, who were the true pride and joy of his life.

Rudy also maintained a warm relationship with Lauren's former husband, Shea, who remained a valued part of the extended family. He is further survived by his sister Sandra (the late Sonny) Dobrovolskis, and his brother Phillip (Sylvia) Smolka.

He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews and friend to all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Wanda Smolka.

Service to others was a pillar of Rudy's life. A proud Eagle Scout, Rudy embodied the values of Scouting throughout his lifetime. For more than 50 years, he remained deeply involved in Scouting, serving as a troop leader, mentor, and steadfast supporter.

Rudy was also a longtime and active member of Kiwanis, dedicating himself to the Park Ridge community through volunteer projects and civic service. His passion for helping others extended to his work as a Center of Concern Board member, offering his time and leadership to support older adults, caregivers, and families in need.

A man of deep and enduring faith, Rudy was a lifelong member of the Polish National Catholic Church and cherished his years as part of the Park Ridge Men's Prayer Breakfast Committee, finding fellowship and spiritual nourishment among friends.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Amazing Grace, whose compassion, support, and gentle care brought comfort and dignity to Rudy in his final days.

Family and Friends are to gather for the Visitation, Monday, December 1, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, 120 South Northwest Highway, Park Ridge, IL 60068.
