Kathleen Maggie Gunter

Heaven received another angel as Kathleen went to be with her Lord on December 16, 2024. Kathleen was born in Sylva, North Carolina to Roy and Maggie Green, and was one of fourteen children. The Green family moved to Darrington, Washington where Kathleen graduated from High School and met her loving husband Robert (Jay) Gunter. Kathllen and Jay ended up in Yakima, WA, where she worked as a cook/dietician for Yakima Convalescent and the Yakima School District for many years where she retired from. Kathleen and Jay raised their two daughters in Yakima, Lisa and Cindi.
Kathleen loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as quilting, and doing other crafts, she especially enjoyed making flower arrangements, and baking which she was very skilled at and was a professional baker earlier in her life and made wedding cakes and several other decorated cakes. She also loved being involved in her church home where she taught Sunday School for numerous years, was a dedicated choir member, and was willing to help in any way she could.
Kathleen is survived by her daughters Lisa Maggard and Cynthia Gunter, her siblings Neil Green (Nancy Green), Bufford Green (Nancy Green), Pauline Green, and Eulah Brooks (Frank Brooks), her grandchildren Ashlie Wood, Jennafer Fairbrook, Rockelle Duff (Leo King), Jeff Wood (Kirstie Wood), Rachelle Wood (Ethan Brune), Mercedes Koleber (Andrew Koleber), Shelby Fitterer (Ed Martinez), and Robert Fitterer, and her great grandchildren Owen Duff, Hunter Duff, Kyler Duff, RayVonne King, Easton Wood, RJ Brune, Walker Brune, Jayne Brune, Evelyn Koleber, and Ivan Koleber. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert (Jay) Gunter and grandson Evan Michael Fitterer.
A Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Shaw and Sons Funeral Home from 3:00-6:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday December 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Shaw and Sons Funeral Home. A Private Graveside will follow.
