Kathleen Ann "Kathy" Handerhan

Kathleen (Kathy) Ann Handerhan (Knestrick), originally from Houston, PA, died on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023, in Bradenton, FL
Kathy enjoyed reading, watching movies, walking, traveling and simply spending time with her family. She took up the game of golf later in life and was on the golf course at the time of her passing. Her intelligence, laughter, bright smile, and ability to listen were only surpassed by her beauty.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kevin James Handerhan from Carnegie, PA. Kathy and Kevin loved each other for over 47 years. They met at Carnegie Mellon University where Kathy received a B.S. in Civil Engineering. They spent the last five years of her life in Bradenton, FL and prior to that they lived in Cranberry Township, PA for 32 years. Together they raised 3 adoring sons whom she loved more than anything else on this earth: Ryan Handerhan, Jason Handerhan and Tyler Handerhan. Prior to the birth of Ryan, Kathy worked as a civil engineer for Westinghouse Nuclear and American Bridge.
Kathy is also survived by her beloved sister, Wanda (Comer) Wagner and many other loving relatives.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosella Knestrick, her father, Robert Knestrick of Houston, PA. and her grand-parents: Frank and Rose Christy Serca and William and Edith Knestrick. She was also preceded in death by her in-laws: Thomas and Ann Handerhan who both considered her to be their own daughter.
Kathy's passing will be honored, and her life will be celebrated in Carnegie, PA with a visitation on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 5-8pm at the Leo J. Henney Funeral Home, 323 Second Avenue Carnegie, where a Blessing Service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11am. Inurnment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 2001 Swallow Hill Road, Pittsburgh PA 15220. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her name to the International Myeloma Foundation (www.myeloma.org).
Kathy was loved by all she knew and will be greatly missed.
