Kathleen Haplea Obituary
Katherine Karol Haplea 76, formerly of Boardman, passed away on Thursday, June 13 due to complications of a stroke. She was the daughter of the late John Haplea and Sophia Hyduk Haplea.
Katherine, Kate as she liked to be called, was a 1966 graduate of Boardman High School and worked for General Motors in Lordstown for over 25 years. After retiring, she became the retail manager and volunteer for Angels for Animals where she was employed and loved by her co-workers.
Kate was a true animal lover having owned horses and caring for numerous dogs and cats in and around her home over the years. She was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and follower of NASCAR. Her collection of both was truly a sight to behold.
Kate was proceeded in death by her partner David Aurin and left behind a brother Jack and his wife Barbara in Huron, Ohio along with numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
Kate was a member of the First Baptist Church in Salem where she embraced the faith to its fullest.
Arrangements are being handled by Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home in Youngstown. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, August 10th from 4-6pm at Angels for Animals in Canfield. Contributions in her memory can be forwarded to Angels for Animals, 4750 South Range Road, Canfield, Ohio 44406 or First Baptist Church, 1290 East State Street. Salem, Ohio 44460.

Kathy was a special person during my childhood. Whenever I was with my grandmother or aunt ( Margaret gallaugher and Diane gallaugher beighley) it was a treat to stop by her house! Praying for her family and friends to cherish her memories!
