Kathleen Johnson

Kathleen Johnson, a woman defined by her gentle spirit and her devotion to family, passed away peacefully at her home on March 4, 2026.

The daughter of Frank and Mary Doyle, Kathleen's early life was a whirlwind of travel across the United States as her father's career flourished. However, it was in Chicago that her own story truly began. While working at a local Savings & Loan, she met the love of her life, Robert. Their first date-pizza at Pizzeria Due followed by an America concert-sparked a lifelong romance. After a playful April Fool's Day engagement, the two became inseparable.

Kathleen and Robert raised their family in Naperville, where she was the heart of the home. Once her children were grown, she returned to the workforce, bringing her organizational talents to Marshall Field's and later Allied Vans. She retired as an international moving coordinator, a fitting role for someone who had spent her youth traversing the country.

In 2021, Kathleen and Robert moved to Grayslake to be near their grandchildren, who became the absolute light of their retirement years. Known for her exceptional holiday spirit, Kathleen famously decorated every room of her home with a Christmas tree, ensuring the magic of the season was felt by everyone who entered. She was a kind, gentle soul who spent her life putting more love into the world, and she will be missed beyond measure.

Kathleen is survived by her husband Robert of 52 years; her children Lorie (John) Schumacher and Michael (Maj Britt); her grandchildren Ellery, Jack, and Emma and her siblings Jack (Lynn) Joeleen (George) and Mark. She is preceded in death by her parents.
