Jennifer Morrow Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McMurrough Funeral Chapel - Libertyville on Mar. 6, 2026.
Jennifer Morrow (née Keck), a longtime resident of Lake County and the quiet strength of her family, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026.

Born September 12, 1971, in West Covina, California, to Eileen and Daniel Keck, Jennifer spent her childhood in southern California, Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri, and Illinois. Those frequent moves helped shape the resilience and friendly warmth that were hallmarks of her life. Wherever she went, Jennifer had a gift for making friends and finding the positive in whatever circumstances she faced.

Jennifer embraced life with curiosity and a sense of adventure. Over the years, she held a wide range of roles, including managing a movie theater, working at the Columbus Zoo with Jack Hanna, selling real estate, and a career in marketing research where she met her husband, Michael. In time, she pursued her passion for education, fulfilling a childhood dream by teaching kindergarten and first grade in the Hawthorn School District. She loved her students deeply and treasured the friendships she formed at Townline Elementary.

No title meant more to Jennifer than "Mom." She was a loving and devoted parent who lived by the saying, "you never know when you're making a memory." Through every challenge she remained a steady, loving presence for her family. She was also a faithful member of St. Mary of Vernon, where she and Mike facilitated Marriage Preparation weekends and FOCCUS pre-marriage counseling sessions for many years.

Jennifer spent many happy hours absorbed in family genealogy, dreaming up future family getaways, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, and lamenting the Chicago White Sox. But she was often happiest under a blanket or with a cat on her lap, preferably both.

Jennifer leaves behind a legacy of warmth, humor, loyalty, and generosity, as well as a life of deep devotion to her family, her students, and her faith.

Jennifer is preceded in death by her mother Eileen Keck (née Nehmens) and father Daniel Bruce Keck. She is survived by her husband Michael; her children Grace and Lucas; brother Daniel Keck Jr. and sister Kathryn (Christian) Hicks; nieces and nephews Benji and Allison Keck and Braedan and Norah Hicks; and her stepmom Nancy Keck.

Visitation for Jennifer will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 12, at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville and on Friday, March 13, at 9:30 – 10:30 AM at St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church, 236 US 45, Indian Creek, 60061. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of Vernon with private interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to Humane World for Animals or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) would be greatly appreciated. Funeral info: (847) 362-2626.
