With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Kathleen M. Lesneski, known fondly by many as "Cookie", on January 14, 2025. Born in Gardner, Massachusetts on November 7, 1949, Kathleen dedicated her life to serving her community, bringing laughter and joy to all who knew her. She was a beacon of generosity and reliability, qualities that defined her character and left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to cross her path.
Kathleen worked in the City Clerk’s office for the City of Gardner for 42 years, the last 26 years of which were as City Clerk and Tax Collector. She worked with eleven mayors during her tenure in office. She retired in 2009, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to her work and the community she loved. After her retirement, Cookie was a familiar figure assisting at John’s Sport Shop in downtown Gardner. In her free time, Kathleen indulged her passion for bowling, golfing and visiting casinos all of which she thoroughly enjoyed.
As Anne Frank once said, "We all live with the objective of being happy; our lives are all different and yet the same." Kathleen's life, though unique in its trajectory, was testament to this universal truth. She lived life to the fullest, always seeking joy and happiness, not just for herself but for those around her as well.
Kathleen's love and dedication extended beyond her work, touching the lives of her beloved family and friends who were her greatest pride and joy. She is survived by her siblings and their spouses: Linda (Raymond) LaFond, Margaret Aalto, Claire (Lee) Karge, David (Karen)Lesneski. Kathleen is survived by her nieces and a nephew and great nieces and great nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Victor and Marie (Healy) Lesneski and brother in law, Peter Aalto.
Kathleen's legacy of humor, dedication, and generosity will continue to live on through the memories we share. Kathleen made us all feel loved, welcomed, and cherished, and for that, we are forever grateful.
