MATTHEWS, Kathleen (Waters) Kathleen (Waters) Matthews, 76 of Manchester-by-the-Sea, passed away, December 17, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late George J. Matthews. Kathy was born December 23, 1947 in St. Augustine, Florida, to the late Evelyn (Kelly) and James J. Waters, Jr. She graduated from Cathedral High School (Springfield) and earned an associate's degree in data processing from Springfield Technical Community College. Kathy was a lover of the arts, particularly music and painting. She was known for her sense of humor and quick wit. She found joy in the company of children. She was kind and generous and will be missed by many. Kathy is survived by her brother, Richard Waters (Grethe Senneseth) of Bergen, Norway; her sisters, Patricia Waters (Erik Holm) of Hudson and Teresa O'Neil (Michael) of Maynard. She was the aunt of Mads Michael Senneseth and Maja Waters Senneseth, both of Norway, Richard O'Neil of Milton and Molly O'Neil of Brighton. She also leaves behind several close cousins and friends and extended family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, James J. Waters, III and Michael J. Waters. A special thanks to her caretaker Stephanie for her tender and loving care during the past year. Her Funeral Mass will be held at Visitation Parish, 62 School Street, Manchester-by-the-Sea, on Tuesday, January 7, at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the service, at the church, beginning at 11 a.m. The Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Manchester-by-the-Sea.
